Trinity Center Policies and Procedures
Trinity Center for Independent Study is an agency for non-traditional education fully accredited for Grades 8th-12th by the Georgia Accrediting Commission. The Center will initially consult with the Parent/Primary Home Educator in regards to curriculum, location for academic study, access to appropriate research materials, grading, testing, clock hours, attendance, transferred high school credits, and Diploma Track in order to plan a complete high school program consisting of a completion of 22 or 23 (Class of 2012) credits with each credit consisting of a minimum of 120 clock hours. Within a year, the Center will monitor testing procedures on a quarterly (every 9 weeks) basis requiring a final content comprehension test to be given at end of each course and record grades for transcript. The Center will be available for consultation on the student’s progress throughout the year. The Center will provide semester progress reports, high school transcript after ONE full year of evaluation, high school diploma upon completion of required credits, and Electronic Transcript Exchange to College and GSFC (HOPE) upon graduation.
Trinity Center REQUIRES that the Parent/Primary Home Educator (person instructing, evaluating progress, and grading the students’ work) hold a high school diploma or a general educational development (GED) diploma OR employ a Tutor (Approved by the Center) who holds a high school diploma or general educational development diploma to teach children, AND requires that the Parent/Primary Home Educator submit a “Declaration of Intent to Utilize a Home Study Program”, and monthly attendance reports to their Local County School Superintendent Office as required under Georgia Law (O.C.G.A. Section 20-2-690.1). Center will require a Tutor Information Agreement from all Tutors employed by Parent/Primary Home Educator. If Parent/Primary Home Educator or Tutor DOES NOT have a college degree, Trinity Center offers 8 hours of instruction in mentoring for Tutors/Mentors who have not completed a college degree, and requires all tutors/mentors not possessing college degrees to complete at least 8 clock hours of this instruction in order to be included in list of approved tutors.
Trinity Center REQUIRES to receive a copy of a yearly “Declaration of Intent to Utilize a Home Study Program”; a copy of monthly Attendance Records submitted to Local County School Superintendent Office; Yearly National Standardized Test (not including PSAT/ACT/SAT), and monthly time sheets showing clock hours spent in each subject from the Parent/Primary Home Educator.
For Independent Home Study Courses taught by Parent/Primary Home Educator with a specific curriculum, Trinity Center requires a quarterly grade sheet with grades posted to determine quarterly home average and Quarterly (every 9 weeks) Supervised Testing (test from curriculum) by Director of Trinity Center, and may require quarterly syllabus.
If taking Tutorial Classes or using Private Tutor, Trinity Center requires the Completion of a Tutor Information and Agreement signed by tutor or tutorial organization and will then require Quarterly/Semester Syllabus and Grade Reports from tutor or tutorial organization.
For Online Courses wherein assignments and tests are graded by online tutor and/or online organization, Trinity Center requires Quarterly/Semester Grade Reports from online tutor or online organization.
